If you’ve ever spent time in a salon chair, you know it’s about so much more than just hair. It’s where stories are shared, laughs are had, and sometimes even big life moments are celebrated.
Over the years, I’ve been lucky enough to not only create beautiful styles, but also build real connections with so many wonderful people.
This blog is my way of bringing those stories to life — from my own journey as a stylist, to the experiences of my amazing team, and the special moments with our clients who feel more like family.
Think of it like a peek into the heart of our salon: a cozy space filled with creativity, connection, and community.

I wanted to make people feel beautiful, so I became a hairstylist.

How It All Began
It all started when I was just a little girl, sneaking scissors to my dolls and braiding anything I could get my hands on (yes—even horsehair and tassels 😂).
In 2005, I jumped into cosmetology, and by 2009 I had my journeyman license. Life took me through all sorts of detours—retail, car sales, even heavy equipment operation—but no matter what, hair always pulled me back.
In 2018, I opened a tiny home salon. Then in 2020, with a baby on the way, a pandemic, and our only local salon shutting down… I took a leap of faith and opened The Carstairs Hair Company.
Since then, we’ve grown into a 2,300 sq. ft. salon, built a team of 6 amazing stylists, and in 2022, I was blessed to buy our building—securing our place in this wonderful community.
The truth is, it hasn’t been easy, but every time I see a client walk out smiling, I’m reminded why I started: to make people feel beautiful.
